By splitting the photo into four sections and translating into four unequal portions, a new composition emerges. The blue of the stepmother’s dress is now used to denote her flesh. The yellow of the carpet becomes Snow White’s dress, and the redness of the chair becomes her flesh. In the last portion Snow White and her stepmother both have blue flesh: the grey of the wall is now used for Snow White’s sleeve and dress.
